Supporting Your Consultation - What is AI?
Further Information
At Hampstead Group Practice, we’re always looking for ways to make your consultations smoother and more focused on you.
The AI systems that we use are secure, NHS-approved tools that helps clinicians capture and summarise your consultation using speech recognition. They allow your clinician to concentrate on the conversation instead of typing notes during your appointment.
How It Works
The AI system (Accurx Scribe, Heidi or Tortus) listens during your consultation (in person or by phone) through an approved microphone. It then converts speech into a written summary for your clinician to review and approve. Once checked and finalised, the summary is added to your medical record in our clinical system (EMIS Web).
The original audio is automatically deleted after processing; it is not stored long-term.
Why We Use It
Using AI means:
- Your clinician can give you their full attention, without typing mid-consultation.
- Your consultation notes are more precise and better reflect the content of the discussion, thereby enhancing continuity of care.
- Routine letters, forms, and referrals can be produced more quickly.
- The practice spends less time on paperwork and more time on patient care.
Your Privacy and Choice
Your privacy is always important to us at Hampstead Group Practice.
Before using AI in your consultation, your clinician will ask for your verbal consent. You can decline at any time, and your care will continue exactly as normal.
Please be assured that AI is not used to diagnose or make decisions about your care.
All information is processed securely and deleted in line with UK GDPR and NHS data protection standards.
Data Security
Audio is processed in the UK or EEA using encrypted, access-controlled systems.
Data is used only to generate your consultation note and is automatically deleted afterwards.
